Instagram in the Archives? (Bente Jensen) – Vorschau: Offene Archive 2.2 (1)

Bente Jensen (Aalborg University and Aalborg City Archives, DK)
Instagram in the Archives?  – between History, Memory, and Communication

Based on the experiences of Aalborg City Archives in Denmark Bente Jensen reflects on the possibilities and challenges of using a photo sharing social media like Instagram in the archives. Themes are on one side user participation and communication and on the other side acquisition through social media and some thoughts on how to appraise the huge numbers of photographs as historical documentation of places, memory, and life stories. Bente Jensen will also relate the subject to ideas behind a new Nordic funded project: #collectingsocialphoto.
