Instagram in the Archives? (Bente Jensen) – Vorschau: Offene Archive 2.2 (1)

Heute beginnen wir mit der Vorschau auf die Vorträge unserer Konferenz in Siegen (3. bis 4. Dezember 2015)! Kollegin Bente Jensen (Stadtarchiv Aalborg, Dänemark) hat bereits im Herbst 2014 ihre Teilnahme zugesagt. Sie wird sich mit den Möglichkeiten des aktuell sehr “angesagten” Netzwerks Instagram für Archive auseinandersetzen. Hier einige Grundinformationen sowie eine Kurzbiographie:

Instagram in the Archives?  – between History, Memory, and Communication

Based on the experiences of Aalborg City Archives in Denmark Bente Jensen reflects on the possibilities and challenges of using a photo sharing social media like Instagram in the archives. Themes are on one side user participation and communication and on the other side acquisition through social media and some thoughts on how to appraise the huge numbers of photographs as historical documentation of places, memory, and life stories. Bente Jensen will also relate the subject to ideas behind a new Nordic funded project: #collectingsocialphoto.

Short biography:

Bente Jensen, M.A., associate professor at Aalborg University (DK) connected to studies related to archives and cultural heritage, archivist at Aalborg City Archives (DK)  and Member of NAET, Network of Archival Educators and Trainers. Member of Nordic network group on archival outreach and coordinator of a Nordic anthology on Archives, Outreach and Communication (expected later 2015). Chairwoman of the Danish National Society to Preserve Photography and Film (LFF) for archives, museums, and libraries, member of the board and the reference group of the Nordic Center of Heritage Learning, NCK, Sweden. Field of research as well as practice: User relations, outreach, and use of social media. Participatory archives and learning with archives. Focus on visual media: Photography. film, and architectural archives. Just now extra focus on social photography and archives in a Nordic funded project: #collectingsocialphoto.
